From lab-to-road: real-world fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

چکیده
Abstract Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) combine an motor with internal combustion engine and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport if mainly driven on electricity. The environmental benefit of PHEVs strongly depends usage charging behaviour. However, there is limited evidence how much actually drive electricity conventional fuel they use in real-world operation. Here, we provide the first systematic empirical analysis consumption (FC) approximately 100 000 China, Europe, North America. We find that mean CO 2 are between 50 300 g km ?1 depending all-electric range, user group country. For private vehicles, two to four times higher than test cycle values. high FC result low frequency, i.e. less once per driving day. Our results demonstrate importance vehicle emission measurements indicate need adjust current PHEV policies, official values better reflect realistic shares incentives put more emphasis frequent charging.

In this paper, Plug-in Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (PFCEV) is considered with dual power sources including Fuel Cell (FC) and battery Energy Storage. In order to respond to a transient power demand, usually supercapacitor energy storage device is combined with fuel cell to create a hybrid system with high energy density of fuel cell and the high power density of battery. In order to simulate the...

Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles HIGHLIGHTS PROCESS AND TECHNOLOGY STATUS – Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) share characteristics that provide a range of benefits such as lower CO2 emissions (potentially zero for pure EVs); no local pollution; competitive operating costs, quiet operation; high acceleration; regenerative braking and other systems...
متن کاملEmissions impacts and benefits of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and vehicle-to-grid services.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) have been promoted as a potential technology to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants by using electricity instead of petroleum, and byimproving electric system efficiency by providing vehicle-to-grid (V2G) services. We use an electric power system model to explicitly evaluate the change in generator dispatches resulting from PHEV dep...
